1. Who is responsible?

Lucas van Pelt is responsible for the processing of personal data on lucasvanpelt.com. You can reach me at lucas [at] lucasvanpelt.com.

2. What data and why

Visiting the website

This website is hosted by WordPress.com (Automattic Inc.). Each visit involves processing technical data such as your IP address, browser and device information, and the pages you view. This is needed to show the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a working, secure website.

Visitor statistics

WordPress.com keeps statistics, such as the number of visitors and the most viewed pages. I only see totals, not who you are. WordPress.com may use cookies or similar technologies for this. You can read more in Automattic’s privacy policy and cookie policy.

Your preferences

If you choose English or Dutch, or the light or dark theme, that choice is stored in your own browser (localStorage). It stays on your device and is never sent to me. You can clear it in your browser settings.

Contact by email

If you email me, I receive your name, your email address and your message. I only use this to reply to you. My email runs through Proton Mail (Proton AG, Switzerland). I don’t keep your message longer than needed for our contact.

3. Fonts, images and live data

All fonts and images on this site are loaded from lucasvanpelt.com (WordPress.com). No connection is made to Google Fonts.

The homepage shows the live status of my projects. Your browser fetches that status from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com), where my Uptime Monitor stores its results. GitHub receives technical data such as your IP address when this happens. No cookies are set and I don’t receive anything myself. You can read more in GitHub’s privacy statement.

The season statistics shown with RefTrack (number of matches and cards) are fetched by your browser from Supabase, the database behind RefTrack, whose servers are in Frankfurt (Germany). Supabase also receives technical data such as your IP address. Only totals are fetched, no matches or personal data, and no cookies are set. See Supabase’s privacy policy.

4. Links to other websites

This site links to LinkedIn, GitHub, RefTrack and Wachtwoordvriend, among others. When you follow such a link, that website’s privacy policy applies. I have no control over it.

5. Data outside the EU

Automattic (WordPress.com), GitHub (part of Microsoft) and Supabase are based in the United States. Their privacy policies describe how they protect data outside the EU. Proton is based in Switzerland, a country the European Commission has recognised as offering an adequate level of data protection.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask what data I hold about you (access);
  • have incorrect data corrected (rectification);
  • have your data deleted (erasure);
  • restrict or object to the processing;
  • receive your data in a usable format (portability).

Email me at lucas [at] lucasvanpelt.com. I’ll respond within one month. If you disagree with how I handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

7. Changes

If anything changes on the site or in how I process data, I’ll update this statement. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
